Hierarchical integrated spatial process modeling of monotone West Antarctic snow density curves

چکیده

Snow density estimates below the surface, used with airplane-acquired ice-penetrating radar measurements, give a site-specific history of snow water accumulation. Because it is infeasible to drill cores across all Antarctica measure and because critical understand how climatic changes are affecting world's largest freshwater reservoir, we develop methods that enable estimation uncertainty in regions where have not been drilled. In inland West Antarctica, increases monotonically as function depth, except for possible micro-scale variability or measurement error, cannot exceed ice. We present novel class integrated spatial process models allow interpolation monotone curves. For computational feasibility, construct space-depth through kernel convolutions log-Gaussian processes. discuss model comparison, fitting, prediction. Using this model, extend beyond depth original core estimate curves Along flight lines radar, use interpolated recent accumulation find predominantly decreasing over decades.

spatial modeling of summer precipitation in North-west of Iran

In the present study, the main aim was the spatial evaluation summer rainfall of northwest of Iran based on30 stations in northwest of Iran during 30 years of statistical period (1985-2014). An attempt, using geo-statistical modeling by ordinary least squares (OLS) and geographically weighted regression (GWR) procedures, was also made. The results represented that the GWR model with higher S2, ...

Density Theorems for Intersection Graphs of t-Monotone Curves

A curve γ in the plane is t-monotone if its interior has at most t− 1 vertical tangent points. A family of t-monotone curves F is simple if any two members intersect at most once. It is shown that if F is a simple family of n t-monotone curves with at least ǫn intersecting pairs (disjoint pairs), then there exists two subfamilies F1, F2 ⊂ F of size δn each, such that every curve in F1 intersect...

Spatial and temporal variability in snow accumulation at the West Antarctic Ice Sheet Divide over recent centuries

[1] Ice cores collected in 2000 (ITASE 00-1) and 2005 (WDC05A, WDC05Q) from the West Antarctic Ice Sheet Divide (WAIS Divide) project site were used to investigate the spatial and temporal variability in accumulation. The ice cores were dated based on annual layer counting of multiple glaciochemical measurements resulting in bottom depth ages for WDC05A, WDC05Q, and ITASE 00-1 of 1775, 1521, an...

Snow on Antarctic Sea Ice

Snow on Antarctic sea ice plays a complex and highly variable role in air-sea-ice interaction processes and the Earth’s climate system. Using data collected mostly during the past 10 years, this paper reviews the following topics: snow thickness and snow type and their geographical and seasonal variations; snow grain size, density, and salinity; frequency of occurrence of slush; thermal conduct...
